Turkish Gold

It is thought that the world’s first coins were Greek but as this particular area of origin is now part of Turkey there is a long history of Turkish gold coins dating back to around 2,000 years. Due to this lengthy history there have been a great number of different denominations of gold coins made. There are not a great many people who collect the older style of coins since many use the Arabic style of Turkish inscriptions which can make them difficult to identify correctly. The more modern coins are equally unfavourable with some as they are often just as hard to identify so this means those who are interested can often obtain them at a reasonably good price. In fact it is possible to find some fairly rare examples that have the potential to be quite valuable!

If you are considering adding Turkish gold to your investment portfolio then this could be a great reason to do so!  Putting your money into gold is one of the best ways to invest your money since it tends to hold its value well and can even increase in value even if the economy declines. If you do decide that you would like to invest in gold then it is important that you do your research and understand what you are doing so that you buy quality coins. Gold Turkish coins come in a wide variety of different denominations and these include Serifi, Tek, Mahbub, Piastres, Sultani, Istanbul and Dort so it is vital that you know what to look for. Of course as with anything some of these will not be as valuable as others but they are certainly a good investment nonetheless, especially the rarer ones!

It is not just gold Turkish coins that are worth looking out for and collecting, any type of gold can be a worthwhile long term investment. One of the main reasons that they are such a great way to invest your money is that they really retain their value and you can quickly build up a good portfolio. You will find that the older the Turkish gold coins the more they are worth so it is a good idea to keep an eye out for these, especially if you find some selling cheaply. Make sure that you handle your coins with care and store them away correctly as they can wear quite easily and this will have an effect on their value. It is also a good idea to vary the type of coins you collect so try to find as many different examples as you can.
